Client: Tudor Saliba Corporation / Owner: Los Angeles World Airports
In 2006, Los Angeles World Airports started construction on their first major project in two decades. The plan was to demo and relocate the southernmost runway, known as 25L, 55 feet to the south. Airport officials said that "moving the runway and creating a taxiway is designed to make runway incursions less likely and prepare LAX for the next generation of jumbo jets." Marina Landscape applied 140 acres of hydroseeding to new and disturbed areas throughout the project. Naturally there was a demanding schedule to adhere to when working around unforgiving airport schedules and closures. In addition, Marina encountered occasional high wind conditions and small windows of time to complete large areas of hydroseed. Marina worked closely with Tutor Saliba and the Los Angeles World Airports to get the project completed on time.
