Seven miles of the San Diego Pipeline right-of-way made up this project and represented a formidable challenge in terms of scale and differing terrain. The unforgiving schedule demanded a concerted and concentrated team effort with both J.F. Shea and the Metropolitan Water District as Marina installed Best Management Practice (BMP) erosion control methods simultaneously with pipeline construction activities. Working within high-flow water channels, Marina installed 172 acres of hydroseed, 10 miles of straw wattles, 48 acres of 100% straw blanket, and four acres of 100% coconut blanket. Marina’s years of experience and competent leadership turned a demanding project into a showcase of excellence in workmanship.
