Highgrove Library

Highgrove

Client: RC Construction

This design-build project was contracted under RC Construction. The Highgrove Library landscape was designed to enhance the exterior spaces of the library while utilizing less water and maintenance than traditional landscapes. The design approach utilized a combination of California native plant materials as well as other low-water-use plant materials adaptable to the area. These same water use plants enabled the amount of water to be lowered while not inhibiting specific plant material growth. In addition, the irrigation system was designed to provide increased efficiency in water distribution to even further lesson the amount of wasted water over the system. The method of distribution was a combination of rotors, micro nozzles, emitters, and bubblers. Smart controller technology was specified to adjust to different times of water requirements during the year, as well as rain-sensing technology.
